About Us
Richfield Church is a place where you can belong, grow, and follow Jesus - together with others. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey - whether you’re exploring faith, returning after time away, or walking closely with Christ - you are welcome here.
We believe every person matters deeply to God, and our heart is to create a community where you can be curious, find hope, build meaningful relationships, and take the next step toward becoming more like Jesus, one day and one decision at a time.
Our Core Values
We believe that every person is made in the image of God and is worthy of love, dignity, and belonging. Acceptance means that people can come as they are—regardless of background, struggles, or status—and experience the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.
Acceptance
We live open-handed because God gave us everything. Generosity isn’t just about money—it’s about living like Jesus. Whether it’s our time, our talents, our resources, or our kindness, we give freely because He gave first. In a world obsessed with getting, we’re passionate about giving.
Generosity
Everything we have—life, hope, purpose—is a gift from God. We don’t take grace for granted. We live with open hands and thankful hearts. Gratitude is a lifestyle that shapes how we worship, how we serve, how we give, and how we see the world. In a culture of entitlement and comparison, we choose contentment and joy because Jesus is enough.
Gratitude
We’re all on a journey of transformation and believe following Jesus means constantly becoming more like Him. Around here, growth isn’t about guilt or religious pressure—it’s about becoming more whole, and more rooted in God’s truth. If you’re breathing, God’s not finished with you.
Growth
Authenticity means being honest about where we are in life and faith. We believe that God works through real people, not perfect performances. In a world full of filters and façades, we choose to be a church where it’s okay to not be okay—and where God’s transforming grace meets us in the mess.
Authenticity
In a world that’s quick to cancel, criticize, and divide, we choose unity. We’re not always going to agree—but we’re always going to love. Not uniformity—but unity rooted in Jesus. We lay down our preferences, pride, and politics to lift up something bigger: the Kingdom of God. Our love for each other is how we want to be known.
Unity
We believe that who we are when no one is watching matters. Integrity means our character matches our confession, our actions match our beliefs, and who we are in public is who we are in private. We aren't perfect people, but we are people who pursue honesty, consistency, and faithfulness. In a world where image can matter more than substance, we aspire to reflect Jesus everywhere we go.
Integrity
Our Mission
We want to lead people to Jesus.
To follow him.
To become like him.
To do the things he did.
Our Pastors
We are blessed to have a team of dedicated and compassionate pastors who are committed to guiding us on our spiritual journey. Both Pastor Gord & Pastor Steve bring unique gifts and a heartfelt passion for sharing the love and teachings of Christ. They are here to support, inspire, and walk alongside you as we grow together in faith.
Gord Ponak
Lead Pastor
I came to Richfield in late 2018 to serve as the Lead Pastor after serving as a Worship Pastor in Fort McMurray for 13 years. I had never aspired to lead a church, but God’s call ramped up to the place it was irresistible and I didn’t just want to, I had to. My amazing wife Lisa is one of our Worship Leaders and also has the best laugh ever! We have two awesome teenagers - Ashley serves as a Worship Leader and a Kidzone volunteer, and TJ is a valuable part of our Tech Team (lights, camera, action!).

Steve Lagore
Associate Pastor
I was born and raised in South Africa as the son of missionaries, Arthur and Gladys Lagore. In 1976 I moved to Edmonton, Canada to attend Temple Bible College, where my journey into ministry began to take shape.
For 14 years I served in lay ministry at Edmonton Gospel Temple (now Richfield Christian Fellowship). In 1990 I sensed God calling me into full-time ministry, and I went on to serve for thirteen years as a music and youth pastor. In 2005 I had the privilege of helping plant Crossroads Christian Assembly, where I served as lead pastor for 18 years.
In 2023 I was grateful to play a role in bringing Crossroads Christian Assembly and Richfield Christian Fellowship together through a church merger.
